Richard Udell Hornberger

Richard Udell "Dick" Hornberger, age 72, of Rimersburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at Clarion Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born in Tidal, PA on March 14, 1940, the son of Bernard and Martha (Whitmer) Hornberger.

Dick grew up in Tidal and lived in the area all of his life. He previously worked at Baufman Coal Co. and most recently worked as a high lift operator for Amerikohl Mining for 12 years until retiring. Dick was a member of Tidal Presbyterian Church, the Pennsylvania Sheriff's Association, and the NRA. In his spare time, he enjoyed small engine repair and helped his friends and neighbors by repairing their lawnmowers. A true fan of the outdoors, Dick liked to fish and hunt in his younger years, and he also found solace in watching hummingbirds. He was a friendly man who could strike up a conversation with anyone and loved talking to people and getting to know them.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Martha (Whitmer) Hornberger, of Sligo; sons, Barry L. Hornberger, of Sligo, and Terry E. Hornberger, of Rimersburg; daughters, Sherry L. Vasbinder, and Tammy A. Craig and husband, Randall, all of Rimersburg; grandchildren, Matthew Hornberger, Ty Hornberger, Deeken Hornberger, Alexandria Craig, Cassandra Craig, Cameron Craig, Terry Hornberger Jr., Devin Hornberger and Kaven Hornberger; great-granddaughter, Leighton Anderson; brothers, Fred Hornberger, of Poconos, and Dan Hornberger, of Limestone; and sisters, Carol Manney and husband, Jim, of Clearfield, Pat Johnson, of Distant, and Cathy Yori, of Nickleville.

Dick was preceded in death by his father; two sons, an infant son, and Richard C. Hornberger; and an infant daughter.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home, 758 Main St., Rimersburg, PA.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the Baker Street Church of God, 160 Veteran Street, Rimersburg, PA with the Reverend John Milliron officiating.

Burial will follow in Tidal Cemetery, Madison Twp., Armstrong Co.
