David Wesley Hicks

David Wesley Hicks, 77, of East Brady, PA passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014, at St. John's Specialty Care Center, Mars, PA.

He was born October 8, 1936 in Kaylor, PA, the son of Herbert and Mardie C. (Kamerer) Hicks.

David honorably served in the US Army and belonged to the American Legion Post 488 in East Brady. For many years, he worked as a painter for Pullman Standard. David was very interested in reading about the history of wars and watching movies about wars. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Edna (Furl) Hicks, whom he married on April 1, 1963; son, Jim Hicks and Sandra Hillard, of East Brady; daughter, Donna Wood and husband, Kevin, of Chicora; grandchildren, Breann Wood, Amanda Hicks, John Hicks, Kerissa Hicks, Curtis Hicks and David Hicks; five great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Hannah, Samuel, Janessa, and Brody; brother, William Hicks and wife, Cathy, of Karns City; sister, Ruth Loose and husband, Don, of Karns City; and many nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Larry "Bud" Hicks, John Hicks and Bobby Hicks; grandson, Wesley Hicks; and sister, Velma Buck.

Per David's wishes, services will be private.

Burial will be in Crawford Cemetery, Karns City, PA.
